This is the Niagara Peninsula Miata Club's annual summer picnic.  It will be a day trip with an optional overnight stay. It's always fun to visit our friend's up north. Ice cream and pizza may be part of this trip. You must RSVP by August 2nd.

Our 10th annual end of summer drive to Combine Brother’s for lunch. We plan to be at Combine around 1:00 p.m. Following lunch there will be a stop for home made ice cream at Handel's.

July 13–19 found our crew escaping to beautiful Hocking Hills of Ohio for a week of driving, sightseeing, eating...and finding new ways to justify eating even more. Not necessarily in that order.

​

Mother Nature cranked the thermostat up to "broil," but we still enjoyed plenty of sunshine while tackling some fantastic twisty roads. Route 555 earned unanimous praise as the trip favorite, while the less prestigious award went to the dirt road leading to our cabins—which somehow managed to be uphill in both directions. We still aren't sure how that's physically possible, but we're convinced Ohio is hiding something.

When we weren't behind the wheel, we kept ourselves busy. We paddled our way through a kayaking adventure, proving that Miata drivers can, in fact, steer something other than a sports car (and that Jan shouldn't steer anything).

We climbed aboard a scenic train ride where, for once, someone else had to worry about the curves.

​

We also spent time antique shopping, where some members searched for hidden treasures while others quietly wondered if a few of the items on display looked suspiciously familiar from their own garages.

​

We even boarded a paddle boat to an island to tour a beautiful mansion, proving that we can be cultured...at least between meals.

​

And, of course, no vacation is complete without the occasional ice cream stop—or three—to help us survive the Ohio heat.

​

The food was excellent, the scenery was spectacular, and, as always, the company made the trip even better. We also met up with the Buckeye Miata Club for lunch, a scenic drive, and a hike through Old Man's Cave. They were a great group, and it was fun sharing the roads (and a few laughs) with fellow Miata enthusiasts.

​

The evening entertainment didn't disappoint either. Diane Starr demonstrated her impressive ChatGPT photo-editing skills, proving that with a little AI magic, reality is merely a suggestion. Some members may never fully recover from seeing what became of their photos!

​

By the end of the week, we had conquered twisty roads, survived the heat, paddled the water, ridden the rails, toured an island mansion, browsed enough antiques to furnish a museum, consumed a scientifically questionable amount of ice cream, and somehow still had room for dessert. That's what we call a successful PIMC road trip.
